All Painting in Spooner

  • Adam Frankiewicz

Growing up in Northwestern Wisconsin, I have always been fascinated with nature and the organisms that inhabit it.   I graduated from UW Superior with a majored in both art and biology.  I am currently employed as an aquatic invertebrate taxonomist for EMR at the Environmental Protection Agency Lab in Duluth. Although art and biology may seem worlds apart, I find that they both complement and aide each other. My art studies gave me new experiences and developed a sharper eye for seeing and creating detail. This sharper eye has aided my taxonomy skills by making me a better observer of the organisms that I classify. I enjoy educating people about the animals I study and I find that art is a great way to introduce scientific knowledge to people of all ages. Being able to show the unique world of microscopic organisms give people a greater appreciation to the complexity of life all around us and the importance that they have to our homes and beloved Northlands. Adam’s paintings and prints can be seen at Arts in Hand Gallery in Spooner.
