Lynn Tamm, leather artist, at Arts in Hand Gallery, Spooner,
I grew up in a family of creative artists and I was drawn to sewing very early. As I grew older I started to explore other mediums. I discovered I liked to combine mediums, playing with textiles, paints and metals. I like the challenge of learning new techniques, I push the boundaries and keep exploring! I love nature, seeing the beauty in its colors, the imperfect perfection of any given object and the relationship of everything to its environment. That is where I draw my inspiration from.
I see the natural beauty in each hide I use and emphasize that natural beauty to create a truly unique and entirely original piece. I love working with leather because it is filled with character! It is also very versatile, and certainly durable. I combine character and practicality to create functional art.
