Tin Cat Studio
Tin Cat Studio is comprised of husband and wife team Randy and Lisa. They live amongst the corn and hayfields outside of Luck, WI; along with 6 cats, 4 dogs and an occasional bypassing chipmunk. You can more than likely find them in their white tent summer home or on a gravel road photographing the rural landscape or the simplicity of the weeds growing along the edges of fields.
Randy ‘s photographic interests include old barns, trees, windmills, and crows which are found throughout his body of work. Lisa captures nature’s beauty through Macro photography; finding the tiny, little details in the world around us is fascinating and a source of joy. Tiny flowers poking out of the grass, raindrops hanging from pine needles, hoar frost hanging tightly to a thistle; all great beauty found within a tiny little space. It is a passion of theirs to capture much of the midwestern landscape before it changes completely.
Their style can be described as impressionistic photography. Every art piece starts as a photograph and different techniques may be applied during the post-editing process to set the mood or to create a visual impact. Encaustic pieces are covered with a mixture of beeswax and resin. This process adds unique texture, depth and interest to each photo and makes an excellent protective coating. Handmade custom frames encase most of their current body of work. Reclaimed barn wood, metal and found objects make up these pieces, creating individual and unique pieces of art. They choose to embrace the imperfections in reclaimed materials, allowing each frame to be unique and one of a kind.
